Island Way Finder — Terms & Conditions

1. Welcome & Agreement

By creating an account or making a purchase on Island Way Finder, you agree to these terms. Island Way Finder is an online marketplace for local experiences and deals on Vancouver Island, based in British Columbia, Canada.

2. Your Account

• You must provide accurate information when creating your account.
• You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure.
• We offer two account types:

You can upgrade or downgrade your account at any time.

3. Bookings & Payments

• When you book a service, you pay at the time of booking through our secure payment system (Stripe).
• Your booking is confirmed once payment is processed.
• Prices shown include your applicable member discount (5% Basic or 10% Premium).
• All prices are in Canadian dollars (CAD) and exclude applicable taxes.

4. Deals & Vouchers

Deals are time-limited promotional offers at discounted prices. When you buy a deal, you receive a digital voucher. Each voucher has a redemption window (30, 60, or 90 days as shown on the deal page).

• Within the redemption window: Present your voucher to the merchant to receive the full discounted service.
• Past the redemption window but within 12 months of purchase: Your voucher can still be used at the merchant as a credit for the amount you paid (face value). The promotional discount no longer applies.
• After 12 months from purchase: Your voucher expires completely. No refund, no credit.

Voucher expiry terms are clearly displayed on each deal page before you purchase.

5. Refund Policy

• Bookings (Listings): Refund requests are handled on a case-by-case basis. Contact us at hello@islandwayfinder.com.
• Deals (Vouchers): Within 7 days of the deal ending, you may request a refund for unused/unredeemed vouchers. After 7 days, refunds are at the merchant's discretion.
• Refunds are processed to your original payment method within 5–10 business days.
• We cannot refund partially used vouchers or services already received.

6. Cancellations

• Cancellation policies vary by merchant and are shown on each listing or deal page.
• Please review the cancellation policy before you book.

7. Your Responsibilities

• Use the platform honestly and lawfully.
• Show up for your bookings or cancel according to the stated policy.
• Present valid vouchers to merchants within the specified timeframe.
• Treat merchants and their staff with respect.
• Don't misuse the platform — no fraud, fake reviews, or harassment.

8. Our Role

• We provide the platform that connects you with local Vancouver Island merchants.
• We process your payments securely through Stripe.
• We are not the service provider. The merchant delivers the experience. Any issues with service quality should first be raised directly with the merchant.

9. Reviews & Content

• You may leave reviews of experiences you've had.
• Reviews must be honest, relevant, and respectful.
• We may remove reviews that contain offensive language, spam, or false information.
• By posting content (reviews, photos), you give Island Way Finder permission to display it on the platform.

10. Privacy

• We collect and use your personal information as described in our Privacy Policy.
• We share only the information merchants need to fulfil your booking.
• We comply with Canada's PIPEDA and BC's PIPA.

11. Liability

• Island Way Finder is a marketplace — we connect you with merchants but are not responsible for the services they provide.
• We are not liable for any injury, loss, or damage resulting from services booked through the platform.
• Our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid for the specific booking or voucher in question.

12. General

• These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia, Canada.
• We may update these terms from time to time — we'll notify you of significant changes via email or on the platform.
• If any part of these terms is found to be invalid, the rest still applies.
